This is Our Life Photo Challenge, Week 4: A Different Perspective

I like to get down with the kiddos on the floor and play and try chasing them around to get a different perspective.  With kids, you kind of have to change it up a lot.  We went to the zoo the other day and Dylan was able to play on the tractor.  He thought he was really cool! He also had a chance to "milk" a fake cow with his buddy Eli.  I am sure he had no idea what was going on but there was water, so that makes it fun! Andrew was sound asleep in the stroller while all this fun was being had :) We love the zoo!

Week 3: This Makes Me Wish I Could Freeze Time

Andrew is 1!! He actually turned one on December 29th.  Because of the craziness of the holidays we decided to skip the whole birthday party thing this year, and also partly because he is one and does not even care.  In my defense, we sang Happy Birthday to him on his birthday and had cupcakes while at a family gathering.  The downside was that I did not have my camera and was not able to document the occasion.  It was the first time he had a a cupcake, or frosting for that matter.  To say that he like it would be a huge understatement.  He took a small bite and then dove head first into the cupcake.  It was hilarious! So here we are almost a month later and I decided that we needed to have an official celebration, mainly because I wanted pictures! So we gathered some family members who were not there for the first round and had a small celebration.  He loved it! I blew up some balloons and ordered a cake from Sams club (I know, I know, I should have made it, but who has time?!). This time I had my camera ready to catch the action! Here are a few pictures from Saturday.  Happy Birthday to my little man! I wish I could FREEZE time and keep him small forever.  Before I know it, he will be 10! I love and adore him so much and am trying to cherish every moment with my crazy little boys.

Dylan Update

Today we went to our routine check up at the eye doctor.  Dylan was his usual uncooperative self.  I think he is permanently damaged from all of the doctors visits.  He has a great time in the waiting room, but once we cross the threshold into the office, he freaks out.  Poor kid.  Although Dylan was not very cooperative, the doc was still able to get his eyes measured and his prescription needs to be increased 10%.  It is not the best news, but it is to be expected with the glaucoma.  The doc also has a new spiffy tool to measure pressure.  The tool does not even need to touch the eye at all, BUT the child has to keep their eye open voluntarily and look at the tool.  So needless to say, we could not test his pressure.  We have rescheduled an appointment for next month to try it again.  If that attempt is unsuccessful, then we will have to schedule an exam under anesthesia.  The dreaded exam that costs a small fortune.  Please pray along with us that we can get the pressure in the office.  Please pray that Dylan can be coaxed to look into the scary tool without us having to pry his eyes open.  His next appointment is February 11th.  Thank you in advance for your prayers!

This is Our Life Photo Project, Week 2: THIS MAKES ME LAUGH

Hi there! I am playing catch up! We are technically on week 3 of the project, so I will be all caught up by Sunday (hopefully), just in time for week 4's assignment.  Week 2's photo challenge was: This Makes Me Laugh.  Although there are many things that happen on a daily basis that make me laugh, this one stuck out in my mind.  The pictures themselves do not make me laugh, but what is going on.  Erik reads to the boys almost every night when he can, and he NEVER reads the stories correctly.  NEVER.  He is always adding in other words, changing the story completely and laughs the whole time while doing it because he knows he is driving me crazy! I can't help but laugh anymore.  When Dylan was really little, I was listening to him reading to Dylan over the monitor and I got so frustrated that he could not just read the words on the page.  Since then, I have learned to enjoy my husbands quirkiness and laugh along with him.  Apparently his father did the exact same thing.  I am a little afraid of how much they are alike.  Very scary!  So here it is, a little snippet of our nightly reading time.  The boys love it, and for now, the mismatched stories do not bother them one bit!

This is OUR LIFE: 52 Week Project, week 1: {Evening Rituals}

I have an amazing friend who blogs EVERYDAY, complete with adorable pictures of her kids.  Now, I am not that crazy, but I have been challenged to do a blog once a week. I think I can handle that!  In order to stretch myself and learn more about photography, I have decided to join in on a 52 week project titled: This is Our Life, by Paint the Moon.  Find out more about the project here.  This week's challenge was Evening Rituals.  Although we have many activities before bedtime, one of our new favorites is letting the boys play around on Dylan's bed! Not only do they love wrestling and jumping around, they also expend a lot of energy. It is a win/win in my book! Here are a few pictures from one night of fun. Thank you for stopping by!

 P.S. I am a week behind so I will be posting another this week in addition to next week's!
